Deborra-Lee Furness breaks silence on marriage breakdown

29 May - Hugh Jackman reportedly was caught off guard after ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness released a statement that seemed to hint on a betrayal on his part following the finalisation of their divorce.

Furness, who has been silent regarding the end of their marriage since it was announced in September 2023, decided to finally address the situation by saying, "My heart and compassion go out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal. However, I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working for us."

"This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. We are all on our individual journeys, and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random. We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognise and heal the broken parts of ourselves... I remain grateful," she concluded.

Sources claimed that the "Deadpool and Wolverine" actor was blindsided by what Furness has said. It was said that Jackman was disappointed seeing that there was an unwritten understanding that the Australian actress would not speak ill of him to the press.

It is noted that following news that the two had ended their nearly three-decade of marriage, Jackman was revealed to have started dating Broadway actress Sutton Foster, whom he worked with in "The Music Man" in 2022. Sources claimed that their affair was an "open secret" among those working in Broadway.

Foster was also revealed to have ended her marriage to writer Ted Griffin a few months after Jackman's separation from Furness. The two had been married for 10 years prior to the divorce.
