23 Jan - Iko Uwais has now officially launched his production label, Uwais Pictures.

Focusing on producing impactful action films, the martial arts actor stated that he and his collaborators have plans to expand its distribution reach to the global film market.

Aside from Iko, who serves as Chairman, Uwais Pictures will also be led by Ryan Santoso, Chief Executive Producer, Yentonius Jerriel Ho, Chief Executive Producer; and Adamy Nurdin, Chief Operating Officer.

The company has already started with two films, "Ikatan Darah" and "Timur". The former is an Indonesian-language film that tells the story of a former martial arts athlete who faces a network of loan sharks to save her younger brother trapped in online gambling debt, while the latter is about the real-life international hostage crisis that took place in Mapenduma, Indonesia in 1996.

Said "The Raid" actor, "I am excited to unleash the next phase of Uwais Pictures with the release of Timur and Ikatan Darah. We are bringing a new style of action movies for audiences around the world."
