15 Aug -Norman Abdul Halim recently revealed that his company Kruniverse is currently in the process of developing a theme park based on the popular fantasy musical film, "Magika" produced by KRU Studios.

Norman, who is also the CEO of KRU Corp, stated that the idea was brought to life due to ongoing demand for a sequel to the film, which has maintained a loyal fan base since its release 15 years ago.

"Many have asked for Magika 2, but at the same time, we need a platform to promote it. Social media alone isn't enough. We need a physical location," said Norman.

As a result, a theme park was planned, he said, with the official launch targeted for May next year.

He explained that the theme park, which will bring to life Malay mythical and folklore characters as seen in the movie, is a strategic move to expand the brand.

The park is being built in the Klang Valley, and Norman confirmed that construction is progressing smoothly.

He emphasised that the theme park will not feature extreme rides like roller coasters, as it focuses more on edutainment.

"We want to educate while also entertain," he added.

Directed by Edry Abdul Halim, the 2010 Diana Danielle-starrer featured a range of iconic characters from Malay legends and folklore. Other stars include Mawi, Ziana Zain, Ning Baizura, Maya Karin, Dato' M. Nasir and Jalaluddin Hassan.

It made RM 3.14 million at the box office.
