20 Jun - The name Louis James Fraser is well known as the founder of one of Malaysia's popular resorts, Fraser's Hill (or Bukit Fraser), located in the Raub district, Pahang. Despite being a famous tourist destination, Fraser's Hill holds several mysterious stories, including that of the Scottish explorer who mysteriously disappeared in 1910.

This inspired production company Millionaire Film Production Sdn Bhd to produce "Misteri Fraser 1910." Producer Elani Aidid said the inspiration came when they were scouting filming locations at Fraser's Hill in 2019.

"While we were there, we read about the history of Mr. Fraser who mysteriously disappeared after he discovered a tin ore pit, and was never found. In fact, there are several hiking trails there named after those who were involved in the search for Mr. Fraser, such as the 'Bishop Trail' and the 'Abu Suradi Trail.' So, it inspired me to research and create a fictional theory of his disappearance," Elani shared at the press conference during the Gala Night and premiere screening of the film at GSC Mid Valley.

The event was graced by YAM Tengku Puteri Seri Lela Wangsa Tengku Tan Sri Dato Sri Setia Hajjah Dr. Meriam Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, a member of the Pahang royal family.

The film tells the story of Louis James Fraser, who mysteriously disappeared in a forest while his car was found roadside. Featuring Josiah Hogan as Mr. Fraser, the film boasts a lineup including Amai Kamarudin, Siti Hariesa, Isyariana, Erry Putra and others.

Inspired by a true story from 115 years ago, the film combines research into local residents' stories with commercial elements. "What I can say is that 50 percent is based on a true story, while the other 50 percent is fiction. The script is funded by FINAS," Elani added.

She continued to explain that the film's uniqueness lies not only in horror but also historical elements, transporting audiences back to 1910 with period-appropriate dialogue, costumes and props.
