30 Jun - mm2 Asia Ltd, through its subsidiary mm Connect Pte Ltd, has partnered with YKL Capital Sdn Bhd to open a 7-screen cinema at The Hub Business Park - Muar's exciting new business and lifestyle destination.

mmConnect is the cinema business division of mm2 Asia, overseeing the strategic operations and management of 13 cinemas across Malaysia under the mmCineplexes brand. The company focuses on making quality cinema accessible and affordable for everyone, while building partnerships that strengthen Malaysia's movie exhibition scene.

This cinema will be a major anchor tenant at The Hub Business Park and marks Muar's first new cinema in over two decades - bringing back the town's rich entertainment heritage. Set to open in early 2028, it will give locals a modern place to unwind while adding to the development's mix of recreational spaces, business facilities, and community events.

"Back in the 1960s, Muar had five bustling cinemas showing everything from Hollywood blockbusters to Malay films, Chinese movies from Hong Kong and Taiwan, and Indian classics. These weren't just places to watch movies - they were where the community came together for entertainment and connection. The Hub Business Park is writing a new chapter for Muar's growth, and we're excited to work with YKL Capital to bring the magic of cinema back to this vibrant town," said Melvin Ang, Executive Chairman of mm2 Asia.

YKL Capital is part of YKL Group, a global leader in heavy machinery and engineering for the palm oil industry. Based in Muar since 1973, the Group has now moved into property development with The Hub Business Park - a project aimed at boosting Muar's economic and social infrastructure.

"Muar hasn't had a cinema since 2000, and we're committed to bringing people together and building community through this development. The Hub Business Park offers well-planned amenities in a welcoming environment where families and professionals can work, relax, and connect. With mm2 Asia's proven track record in film, events, and cinema operations across multiple markets, they're the perfect partner to make this vision happen," said Thomas Yeo, Executive Director of YKL Capital Sdn Bhd.

Located along the Muar Bypass Road (AMJ), The Hub Business Park sits in the heart of the Muar Development Corridor, with major highways linking to Pagoh, Batu Pahat, Tangkak, Segamat, and Malacca. This central spot makes it convenient for both locals and visitors from nearby towns.

The Hub Business Park and its cinema are expected to open by early 2028, helping to establish Muar as a regional destination for business and entertainment.
