Disney celebrates third billion-dollar film of 2024 - "Moana 2"

21 Jan - Disney is surely jumping for joy as another one of its 2024 release has now crossed the USD 1 billion mark.

"Moana 2", which was released on 27 November, has now made USD 1.01 billion at the global box office, as it added another USD 7.9 million from the overseas market. USD 442.8 million of the 1.01 billion is revealed to come from the US box office.

This made the animated feature the third release of 2024 to have made it following "Inside Out 2" (USD 1.699 billion) and Deadpool & Wolverine" (USD 1.338 billion).

"Deadpool & Wolverine" also made Disney a billion dollars

The success is giving Disney the help it needed after its series of flop movies in 2023, with titles like "The Marvels", "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny", "Wish" and "The Little Mermaid" among others costing them USD 1 billion in losses.

"The Marvels" lost USD 237 million at the box office
