Netflix and Sony in talks for "Kpop Demon Hunters" sequel?

"KPop Demon Hunters" proves original animation can dominate both streaming charts and Billboard
28 Aug - Following the surprise success of "KPop Demon Hunters", it was reported that Netflix is now in talks to greenlight a sequel to the hit animated feature.

Sources recently told THR that the streamer is currently discussing the project with Sony Pictures, as it announced that the movie has now become number one on its list of most-watched English-language films with 236 million total views.

Not only that, four of the songs featured in the film has also made it to the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, led by Huntrix's "Golden."

This is a great news for original animation, following the downward spiral that saw the latest animated film, "Elio" from Pixar earning only USD 152 million at the box office, a very low number compared to sequels like "Inside Out 2" (USD 1.69 billion) and "Moana 2" (USD 1.059 billion).

Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans from an idea conceived by the former, the movie follows a K-pop girl group, Huntrix who lead double lives as demon hunters.
