25 Aug - Rajinikanth's team has backtracked on the previous statement calling the "Meet & Greet Thalaivar" in Malaysia an unauthorised event.

On 23 August, the legendary actor's team released a new statement that read, "Clarification Statement! Due to an earlier miscommunication, there was some confusion regarding the Coolie Meet & Greet Thalaivar contest by Malik Streams."

"We now confirm that the contest is valid, organised with the required details, and open for participation. We thank all."

The statement sparked backlash from many, as the previous allegation has impacted the organiser. Many netizens blasted the team for not confirming thoroughly before making a statement and for not apologising to Malik Streams for such a misinformation.

The whole brouhaha sparked after Rajinikanth's team took to social media to announce that a Meet & Greet event hosted by organiser Malik Streams was fake and that it was announced without obtaining any prior permission from Rajinikanth himself.

In response, Malik Streams released a statement saying that, "Any attempt to mislead the public with false information regarding our marketing procedures, or to unnecessarily tarnish reputations, will not be taken lightly. Accordingly, legal action will be issued against those responsible for spreading such misleading and damaging statements."
