26 Nov - Scarlett Johansson is going from another franchise to another, as it was reported that she is set to star in Blumhouse and Universal's new "Exorcist" movie.

The movie is to be directed and produced by horror auteur Mike Flanagan, known for his horror series and films like "The Haunting of Hill House," "Doctor Sleep," and "Midnight Mass". He also penned the script.

It is noted that the film will not be a remake of the original movie, nor will it be a sequel to 2023's "The Exorcist: Believer".

"The Exorcist is one of the reasons I became a filmmaker, and it is an honour to have the chance to try something fresh, bold and terrifying within its universe," said Flanagan back in 2024 after the announcement of his involvement in the project.

Johansson's last film was Universal's "Jurassic World: Rebirth," which made USD 868 million globally.
