"Syurga Dalam Botol" made RM600,000 after four days

"Syurga Dalam Botol" breaks Sabah box office records

15 Oct - "Syurga Dalam Botol", the directorial debut of singer Ebi Kornelis, has now made more than RM600,000 at the box office after four days.

The Sabahan singer-turned-filmmaker has expressed excitement over the success of the movie, saying that it was unexpected and a good news for the Sabah film industry.

"I consider this a good fortune for me because it has been very difficult for Sabah films to surpass RM200,000 at the box office. I hope more Sabahans will come out to watch Syurga Dalam Botol so that this film can continue to be shown in cinemas," he enthused.

Prior to "Syurga Dalam Botol", the highest grossing Sabahan movie was the Dusun-language film, "Sinakagon", which made RM225,859 at the box office.

"Syurga Dalam Botol", featuring great performances by Ebi Kornelis, Dg. Hasnah, Kenneth Torrecampo Oliver and Sakinah, tells the story of the stateless children, some who choose the honest path despite having very little, while others fall into the world of crime due to having no choice.

The film, which cost RM 1.4 million, also received RM500,000 from the First Time Amateur Filmmaker fund (FAME) through the Digital Content Fund (DKD) under the Ministry of Communications.
