23 Jan - Tyra Banks recently admitted that her house in Los Angeles was one of the thousands that were ravaged in the wildfires that have been going on since early January.

The American supermodel spoke about her loss on the Australian morning show Sunrise on 20 January, saying that she hasn't really talked about it before as she didn't want to pull attention towards her.

"I feel like there's a lot of people that need that attention, so I haven't really talked about it, but I can't sit here and not tell the truth that, yeah, we lost our house," she said.

Tyra said that she was at a friend's house in Australia with her family when she and her partner realised that their home was also destroyed in the fire.

"I just pulled it together and just didn't say anything to my friends and just stayed in that moment, and then we went home and we cried and we had our moment," she added.

Nonetheless, not all is lost for Tyra, who also has a home in New York, where she kept some of her belongings.

"We're between here and New York, so a lot of those mementos are here and in New York, so I didn't lose that, thank goodness," she said. "There were some mementos that we lost. But yes, it's tough."

As of 23 January, the Palisades fire, which is where the first wildfire started, is 68% contained. At least 27 people have been killed and 14,000 structures destroyed since 7 January.
