Adrian Teh says "Chelot" is his most difficult production
26 Aug - Despite having directed multiple hit movies, Adrian Teh admitted that he is still nervous about his new movie, "Chelot".

The director, whose previous film, "Malbatt: Misi Bakara," grossed RM32.5 million, said that he is always anxious when his movies are releasing on the big screen as each and every one of them comes with different challenges and demands.

"As a filmmaker, I am always striving to improve on my work. This time for 'Chelot,' I did not only focus on the action scenes, but also the drama and storyline. So, the action scenes may not be as abundant as my other films, but the story itself is more compact and meaningful," he said.

Adrian admitted that his biggest challenge was to ensure that the movie could perform better than "Malbatt: Misi Bakara."

"I can say that this film is one of the most difficult works I have ever produced. There is a one-take scene that was one of the most challenging to film. Planning for just one 'one-take' scene took months to realise," he added.

The scene secured a prestigious spot in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) for achieving the Longest Single-Take Action Sequence in a Movie, a rare and technically demanding feat in the local film industry.

The record-breaking sequence was executed using a single camera, spanning an impressive 1.9 kilometres and unfolding continuously over 5 minutes and 19 seconds, showcasing a level of precision, coordination, and ambition seldom seen in Malaysian filmmaking. The production brought together a 300-member crew, requiring 150 days of preparation and 60 hours of rehearsal, with 50 prop cars used throughout the filming process.

In "Chelot," Shukri Yahaya plays Inspector Haqqim, a special operations officer who is forced to become an informant for a crime syndicate after facing financial pressure and family problems. The film co-stars Beto Kusyairy, Shaheizy Sam, Azhan Rani, Nadhir Nasar and Alicia Amin, among others.
