3 Jun - "Backrooms" proves to be a force to be reckoned with, as it has now become the biggest opening for A24 with USD 81.4 million in North America.

The movie, which originated from Creepypasta (a term for horror-themed stories and urban legends that spread virally across the internet) is helmed by 20-year-old Kane Parsons, who began publishing the viral web series Backrooms to his YouTube channel in 2022. Globally, the movie has now made USD 118 million at the box office.

A24's biggest opening was previously helmed by "Civil War," which made USD 25.5 million in its three-day opening.

Meanwhile, "Michael" has now made USD 846.2 million at the box office, with the movie yet to open in Japan. As for "Devil Wears Prada 2", the film has now accumulated USD 641.6 million in its fifth weekend.
