7 Jan - The Malaysian film industry is celebrating a historic milestone with "Black Ops", an explosive action film born from an unprecedented collaboration between leading Malaysian production powerhouses-Skop Productions, Enotech, Astro Shaw, Komet Studios, Marvelous Culture & Film, and GSC-together with renowned Hong Kong production company One Cool Films, founded by international star Louis Koo.

This landmark partnership, which marks the first time One Cool Films has joined forces with a Malaysian production, reflects the growing creative synergy between the two film industries. The ambitious project is set to hit cinemas at the end of 2026 and represents a new era of cross-border filmmaking excellence.

At the helm of this international production are two visionary directors: Malaysia's celebrated filmmaker Syafiq Yusof and Hong Kong's Chui Tze Yiu. Together, they've assembled an impressive ensemble cast that brings together talent from both countries, including Sharnaaz Ahmad, Benjamin Yuen, Hisyam Hamid, Andy Teh, Aaron Aziz, Fauzi Nawawi, Elizabeth Tan, Anding Indrawani, MK K-Clique, Raja Afiq, Benjamin Tan, Ken Law (Super Ken), Sean Lin, Mathni Razak, Balan Kash, Ahirine Ahirudin, Azman Hassan, and young talent Rania Amanda.

What truly sets "Black Ops" apart is its world-class action choreography, led by internationally recognised stunt masters Ken Law (Super Ken) and Sean Lin (Lin Li-Yang). Ken Law, a Hong Kong-based action specialist and Golden Horse Awards 2025 nominee, brings his signature highly realistic, high-risk choreography to the project. Working alongside him is Sean Lin, a veteran from the legendary Sammo Hung-founded Hung Ga Ban, whose mastery of traditional martial arts adds precision and cinematic flair to every sequence. Their collaboration promises to deliver action that sets a new benchmark for Malaysian filmmaking.

The film tells the gripping story of Johan, a member of an elite Black Ops unit-a secret government task force established to dismantle international drug cartels operating in Malaysia. When his wife is murdered and his daughter kidnapped, Johan finds himself framed as the prime suspect. Hunted by both the authorities and his own teammates, he's forced to go on the run, racing against time to unravel a dark conspiracy and save his daughter before it's too late.

The production has garnered enthusiastic support from key industry leaders. Chairman of Skop Productions and Executive Producer Datuk Yusof Haslam shared his vision for the film: "This is not merely entertainment, but a reflection of society and an experience we hope will stay with audiences. I believe that the collaboration between Skop Productions and One Cool Film will open wider opportunities for the Malaysian film industry to move onto the international stage."

Director of One Cool Film and Co-Producer Tang Wai But echoed this sentiment, noting that "this collaboration marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between the Hong Kong and Malaysian film industries. We are committed to ensuring 'Black Ops' is delivered at the highest standard, while also supporting the expansion of Malaysian films into regional and international markets."

Head of Astro Shaw and Co-Executive Producer Raja Jastina Raja Arshad added: "This collaboration with a leading Hong Kong production house marks an important step forward in expanding Malaysian cinema onto the international stage. Astro Shaw is fully committed to ensuring this project reaches its maximum potential and sets a new standard for the local film industry."

With its ambitious scale, international creative team, gripping narrative and high-octane action, "Black Ops" is poised to become one of the most highly anticipated films of 2026
