12 Jan – It was another success for former SM Entertainment trainee EJAE, as the song "Golden" won Best Original Song at the Golden Globes Awards. The singer-songwriter, who accepted the award alongside her co-writers Mark Sonnenblick and Lee Hee-joon, opened up about her struggles during her emotional speech. "When I was a little girl, I worked tirelessly for 10 years to chase one dream, to become a K-pop idol. I faced rejection and disappointment, thinking my voice wasn't good enough," she shared.
EJAE then added that the song allows her to inspire other young women and fans worldwide to overcome hardships and embrace their true selves. She then dedicated the award to those who experienced repeated rejections. It is noted that the song previously won Best Song at the Critics Choice Awards.
