Datuk Fahmi Fadzil remembers Cik Man as a legend of Malay cinema

6 Aug - Malaysia's Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil recently took to social media to pay tribute to actor Kamarozaman Yusoff, better known as Cik Man, who passed away on 5 August.

Sharing his sadness over the loss, Fahmi stated that just like any other fans of Malay films, especially movies of the 80s, he will always remember Cik Man for his character of Farouk in "Gila Gila Remaja".

"His performance was so effective that the character's name remains etched in the hearts of fans. A legend who has left a big impact on the film world in Malaysia," he stated.

Fahmi stated that the late actor was a highly respected artiste, not only in the acting industry, but also among lovers of Malaysian arts and cinema.

"Thank you, Farouk/Cik Man, for enriching our world of entertainment and creating countless cherished memories for generation after generation. Your services, contributions and works will continue to live in our memories. May Allah SWT forgive all his sins, shower blessings on his soul and place him among the believers," he added.

The Kelantanese actor made his debut through "Gila Gila Remaja" in 1986 and went on to star in multiple films and play memorable characters in movies such as "Kanta Serigala," "Mat Gelap," "Rock" and "Ombak Rindu".

His final film is "Sahul Bhai," directed by Mamat Khalid's son Amen Khalid.
