4 May - Veteran actor Jalil Hamid has recently passed away.

The news was confirmed by daughter Afiqah Jalil on 4 May, stating that the family found him unconscious at around 12pm.

"He died in his sleep. We only realised it at 12.30pm. He had his subuh prayer and wanted to get some rest. But when my mum was checking on him, she realised that he's gone," said Afiqah.

She also revealed that Jalil will be buried at Section 21 Muslim Cemetery after Asar.

Prior to this, Jalil revealed that he had lost 30kg off his weight after experiencing poor appetite stemming from his heart issues.

Born in Masai, Jalil made his acting debut in the late 1980s, starring in various films and TV shows, including "Driving School," "Baginda," "Bisik Pada Langit" and "Ayahanda". He had won multiple accolades throughout his career including Best Supporting Actor in "Baginda" at the 13th Malaysian Film Festival.

He was also a part of the sketch comedy "Gado-Gado" as well as the popular sitcom "2+1" and has released several hit songs including "Ayam" and "Raya".

He was 69.
