1 Jul - Jesse Eisenberg has indirectly confirmed what Aaron Sorkin had said about his decision to decline "The Social Reckoning," despite having already played Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in Sorkin's "The Social Network."

The actor, who spoke to Variety recently at the premiere of "Minions & Monsters," said that he met with Sorkin for several days about the project, adding, "The way Aaron speaks, he speaks so wonderfully... in a way [that] if you're not going to do something with him, it feels almost like you're letting down America."

He continued, "I just told him I'm moving in different directions in my life, and you know, what he said sums it up nicely. I don't want to be associated with that character, but all of my reasons for not wanting to do the movie have nothing to do with how wonderful the movie is, and will be, and I'm sure is already."

Earlier last month, Sorkin revealed that Eisenberg did not want to play Zuckerberg again or be conflated with the problematic billionaire.

"He doesn't like kids coming up to him in airports with business cards that say 'I'm CEO, b****' for him to sign," he said.

Jeremy Strong is now playing Zuckerberg in the sequel, which also stars Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White as Facebook engineer Frances Haugen and Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, respectively.
