11 Jun - Indian stars recently took to social media to mourn the loss of legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja, who passed away on 10 June.

Tamil Nadu CM, Joseph Vijay took to X to express his sadness over the loss, saying that Bharathiraja has created "several successful films infused with the vibrant essence of rural life" and that state honours will be accorded during his final journey as a mark of respect.

Mohanlal, who worked with Bharathiraja in "Thudarum," posted in the same social media platform, "A director who found poetry in the soil, truth in silence, and soul in every frame. Sharing screen space with Bharathiraja Sir in Thudarum was an honour I will cherish forever. Rest in peace, Sir."

"Your legacy will continue to inspire generations, and your presence will be deeply missed," he added.

Allu Arjun described Bharathiraja as "a true legend whose vision, storytelling, and contribution to Indian cinema will remain timeless," and that "his legacy will continue to inspire generations of filmmakers and artistes."

Director SS Rajamouli expressed, "Bharathiraja was a true pioneer who revolutionised cinema with his raw and uncompromising storytelling. Those unforgettable rural narratives, that fearless vision and the authenticity he brought to the screen will live on forever. It was an honour to witness and celebrate his extraordinary body of work and legacy."

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth, who spoke to the media following news of the passing, said that the six-time National Award-winning director is as innocent as a child and would always spoke his mind openly.

"If he liked, he'd say he liked. Else, he'd say no. He has even told me, 'I like you, but I don't like your acting'," Rajinikanth said. "Not just that, he was among those who first raised his voice for anybody, be it producers, directors or anyone who had a problem. No matter how many years pass, his creations will never be forgotten. His name will continue to remain in the hearts of Tamil people forever."
