25 Feb - Hollywood's nice guy is set to play the most celebrated American president, as Tom Hanks has been announced to play the role of President Abraham Lincoln.

The project is "Lincoln in the Bardo," an adaptation of George Saunders' best-selling 2017 novel of the same name, and will be helmed by Duke Johnson.

It is revealed that the movie will be a hybrid of live-action and stop-motion animation, and that Hanks will appear as the live-action version of the 16th US president.

"Lincoln in the Bardo" the novel takes place during and after the death of Abraham Lincoln's son William Wallace "Willie" Lincoln and deals with the president's grief at his loss.

The last actor to play Lincoln on the big screen was Daniel Day-Lewis in the Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" biopic (2012).
