YAMAZAKURA: THE CHERRY TREE IN THE HILLS

Set in the late Edo Period, Noe (Tanaka Lena) is the eldest daughter of an interrogator Urai who lost her first husband and are advised to remarry unto the Isomura family. But Noe is unable to adapt to the family traditions of Isomura family that makes her life in the family to be miserable. On the way back from visiting her aunt`s grave, she encounter a samurai under a cherry tree which happens to be Tezuka Yoichiro (Higashiyama Noriyuki) who has ambitions to marry Noe but are unable to do so. A drought persists and the severe land tax made the farmers to live in poverty that forces Yoichiro to make a tough decision which could change the fate of both Yoichiro and Noe.
