"Looper" is an action-packed science fiction thriller set in the future, where time travel is possible but illegal and only used by crime syndicates, for what better way to hide a body than to send it 30 years into the past? Joe (Gordon-Levitt), a `Looper`, and one of the best there is, is recruited by the mob to do one thing, which is to wait for his `future` target to be sent back in time before killing them, until one day the syndicate decides to `close the loop`. His future-self (Willis) is sent back for assassination and young Joe finds himself unable to pull the trigger. Now, the two of them must find a way to send older Joe back into the future, while being on the run from the mob.

Dalam dunia gengster pada tahun 2044, seorang pembunuh upahan berusia 25 tahun bernama Joseph Simmons (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) bekerja di sebuah syarikat mafia di Kansas City sebagai seorang 'Looper'. 'Looper' dikehendaki membunuh ejen yang dihantar oleh majikan mereka dari ibu pejabat korporat di Shanghai pada tahun 2074. Mereka akan dibayar dengan syarat semua target tidak dapat melarikan diri. Apabila Simmons menyedari target terbarunya adalah dirinya pada masa hadapan, dirinya yang lama cuba melarikan diri. Kegagalan dalam menjalankan tugasnya telah menyebabkan majikannya cuba mengejar dan memaksa dirinya untuk berjuang.
