Following the success of "Paiyya", director N.Linguswamy keeps his tempo alive in his latest action entertainer, "Vettai", which has his usual filmmaking trademarks all over the film.

It revolves around two brothers, Thirumurthy (Madhavan) and Gurumurthy (Arya) who care for each other since young. Thirumurthy is afraid of most things in life, whereas Gurumurthy is very bold and brave. Thirumurthy reluctantly accepts to become a police officer after his father passes away. To help his brother fight crime in the city, Gurumurthy gives a helping hand and subsequently Thirumurthy gets all the credit and also becomes the target of criminals in the city. Along the way, they meet two beautiful sisters Vasanthi (Sameera Reddy) and Jayanthi (Amala Paul) who eventually become their love interests. How these brothers clean up the city from the baddies forms the rest of this action flick.

After a long gap, we see Madhavan playing a different character which not many actors would prefer to do these days. His chubby look suits his elder brother role with ease. It's also refreshing to see Arya make a transition from romantic hero to a mass action hero in this film. Both Arya and Madhavan make a great pair as brothers. For a change, Sameera Reddy gets a satisfying role to play than her usual glam role and does admirable justice to it. Amala Paul looks pretty and acts far better than her debut film "Myna" which is also a positive sign in her career.

Yuvan Shankar Raja's music is a major plus with some peppy songs which adds flavor to the film like 'Pappappa' and 'Thaiya Thakka' which has good scenic locales. Director Lingusamy's usual trademarks in action and song sequences are found all over this film. Although the story is simple and predictable, there isn't any moment which keeps you dull as it runs at a rapid pace till the end. If you are looking for mass action entertainer, then "Vettai" is the right choice for you. Go watch it.
