The Good, the Bad and the Wake:

Ryon Lee is a well-known and widely successful scriptwriter. It is no surprise then that "Seventh" manages to pack in many beautiful messages within its storyline. The two most prominent messages are firstly of respecting your elders and secondly of true love being something that transcends time. The four stars of the movie each performs remarkably, Teddy Chin and newcomer Kim Thian, especially, with their hilarious portrayal of the quarrelsome Cannon and Mimi. Taiwanese Gino and Singaporean Mindee manage to inject emotions into their shared themed song "Sayang-sayang" despite neither being a native speaker of the Malay language. While generally graphic effects in local films are still in their infancy compared to big-budgeted Hollywood movies, the effects in this movie are a step up from most local productions. Moviegoers who are expecting to be scared out of their wits probably would not get their wish, unless they are afraid of CGI ghosts. However, even though the effect of the ghosts might not be immediate, as in, you will not be screaming your heads off when they appear on screen, they will linger in your mind. It is only late at night, when you switch off the lights, that the images of the ghosts come crawling to the surface and you are suddenly afraid you will see a disembodied hand reaching for you in the darkness.

Look Out For:

The mee hokkien scene and the eyeball that keeps escaping.

Trivia:

The kiss scene between Yi (Gino) and Ying (Mindee Ong) was not in the script, Gino asked for it to be added in.

Anyone who wants to experience a different kind of a ghost movie - or a different kind of a love story.
