An astronaut only realises her pregnancy after lift-off, leading to her son being raised on Mars instead of on Earth. Sixteen years later, the boy befriends a Colorado girl. The long distance friendship turns into an online romance. When he is granted his trip to Earth, he is excited to experience all the wonders and also takes the chance to find his father.

The Good, the Bad and the Man From Mars:

• Fans of Nicholas Sparks' movie adaptations might enjoy this, but if you don't fancy any of his style of films then this similar-in-vein story might not be for you.

• The premise seems promising but due to the predictable screenplay, it becomes another cheesy romantic tale dashed with some questionable sci-fi elements.

• Despite being partially sci-fi, the scientific explanations in the movie are sloppy, but the sentimentality and melodrama over takes that.

• Asa Butterfield has recently become one of the most sought-after teen actors with several huge projects, but this film does little to propel his acting talents, especially where the romance genre is concerned.
