During a police showdown, a thug, realising that he will be defeated soon, shoots himself to force the cops to cease fire and take him to the hospital. At the hospital, he refuses to have immediate treatment by claiming human rights. This way, he is able to buy his underlings some time to rescue him. A detective sees through his scheme but decides to play along so that he can capture the whole gang at once.

Ketika polis membuat serbuan terhadap seorang samseng, dia telah menembak dirinya apabila mendapati dirinya sudah terkepung. Apabila dia dibawa ke hospital untuk rawatan, dia menolak rawatan itu dengan menggunakan alasan hak manusia. Dengan ini dia dapat melengah-lengahkan masa supaya gengnya dapat menyelamatkannya. Seorang detektif yang dapat membaca permainannya mengambil keputusan untuk terlibat dalam permainannya itu supaya dia dapat menangkap kesemua geng dalam satu masa.

The Good, the Bad and the Distinctive Trio:

• A movie with a ticking-clock plot that is boosted considerably by director Johnnie To's righteous filmmaking techniques.

• Everything in the movie falls right into place as the director fills in the back story neatly and also systematically introduces the main and supporting cast who provide either comedy relief or a threat.

• The end of the film may not be as satisfying as expected as there are some unanswered questions, but nevertheless it is still one of the most memorable action films in recent years.
