Lily is a 76-year-old woman who is now living in a nursing home with her husband of 50 years, Max. The only reason she is in assisted living is because Max is mute and paralysed and he needs professional care. Lily has been putting her own needs aside but is desperately longing for excitement and intimacy in her life. When a man known as "The Pilot" moves in next door, Lily is immediately attracted to him especially by his passion in life. However, her family and the other residents at the nursing home are not very fond of the relationship between the two. Misunderstood by her family and trapped in her life with Max, Lily decides to fight and escape her prisoned life and claim her freedom.

Lily dan Max telah berkahwin lebih 50 tahun dan kini mereka tinggal bersama di rumah jagaan, di mana Max perlu bergantung kepada penjagaan profesional sejak dia diserang strok. Lily pula terpaksa mengenepikan segala kemahuan dalam hidupnya demi suaminya. Apabila seorang lelaki yang dikenali sebagai 'the Pilot' berpindah ke kejiranan mereka, Lily pula tertarik dengan lelaki itu. Keadaan ini telah menyebabkan keluarganya dan penghuni di rumah jagaan itu tidak suka dengan teman barunya. Disalah anggap oleh keluarga dan terperangkap dalam hidupnya dengan Max, Lily ambil keputusan untuk melarikan diri dari penjara halimunan itu untuk mencapai kebebasan untuk dirinya.
