After nearly three years of waiting, "Awan Dania The Movie" is finally set to premiere in cinemas this 14 March. Directed by Rashid Sibir, who know also known as the 'Director of Tears', the film is based on the television series "Awan Dania".

Distributed by Tayangan Unggul, this romantic film consists of well-known stars such as Scha Al-Yahya, Elly Mazlein, Rusdi Ramli and Jehan Miskin. For the writer, the narrative can be said to be cliche and predictable.

For fans of the series "Awan Dania", the director has already told us that the film will not pick up from where the series left off or go on the same lines, so you will just have to watch it to find out.

"Awan Dania The Movie" tells the story of Dania (Scha Al-Yahya) and Tania (Elly Mazlein), who are vying for the title of Best Stewardess. Tania, the most popular stewardess among the cabin crew and the passengers held the title before, thus making her the likely candidate.

Dania eventually finds out that Tania is using Remy (Rusdi Ramli), a pilot, to win the title as well as to gain the public's attention. It is a full-out war between Dania and Tania when Tania realises that she is followed by Dania. She then tries sabotage Dania by making Remy hate Dania.

It is obvious that Rashid Sibir has given the film an overhaul from its roots in the television series, only keeping two characters, which are Dania and Benji (Jehan Miskin). In "Awan Dania The Movie", focus is given towards the romance, where Dania is seen playing a more active role in compared to the drama. However, the writer feels that it is veers towards desperation when Dania and Tania are arguing and fighting over Remy.

To make things worse, in the ensuing conflict between Dania and Tania, the director tries to tack on some comedy in order to make the audience laugh. In the writer's opinion, Dania's character in the film is completely different from her character in the drama, where she is cheerful and kind-hearted, while in the film she looks like a snob and behaves like a spoiled girl. Whether if this is what the director intended, we will never know. However, the writer would like to praise Elly Mazlein's acting as the seductive and elitist stewardess Tania. It looks more natural than Scha Al-Yahya as Dania anyway.

Meanwhile, Rusdi Ramli's part as Remy is just flat. Perhaps the director just wants to direct our focus to Dania and Tania?

No matter, the conclusion of the film is that the writer is not satisfied with it because the narrative and the characters could be vastly improved on. But that could also be just the writer's problem, so watch it and find out.
