Fate brings two persons together and at the same time it could tear a couple apart. We can fall in love with someone easily but fate tells us that there are things and events that are out of our control when it comes to relationship and life. Adham Idham's latest romantic piece is about to prove that.

"Gerimis Mengundang" introduces us to a macho pilot named Zamani (Kamal Adli), who meets Mikha (Olivia Lubis Jensen), a young and beautiful Indonesian female passenger during a helicopter ride. Love has sparked between the two individuals but it is challenging for them to maintain their enchanting relationship. While waiting to hold Mikha's arm for the rest of his life, fate comes in and gives a different answer to Zamani.

The movie title itself is already reminiscence of veteran Malaysian singer Slam's classic love tune with the same title years ago. Scriptwriter Azwan Annuar is able to transform the soul and deep meaning of the song into the bittersweet romance between Zamani and Mikha.

The emotional and heartbreaking plot is the one that makes and breaks the movie. No doubt that Zamani and Mikha's struggles in their tough journey for love and their family background have the ability to create empathy in the audience. Nevertheless, you will not be able to feel a huge sense of grief during the scene where Mikha's father passed away after a car accident, if you rethink the entire plot with common sense. Mikha's mother's presence after her husband's death is the one that triggers you to ask for more sadness from her.

The collaboration between Adli and Lubis Jensen is not as good as one thinks. Both of them are lacking in chemistry. At some points, the way each of them express their daring attitude in the romantic plots makes you feel kind of awkward and uncomfortable.

Overall, "Gerimis Mengundang" is just a normal and plain love story that is not able to bring the so-called "wow" factor of a loving drama to the audience.
