At the surface of director Pierre Andre's new movie, it looks like a very cliched love film adapted from a novel. To cut the long story short, this reviewer frankly thinks that there is nothing new in the plot of the film "Cerita Kita".

However, there are little things about the film which attracted the reviewer. The acting of Pekin Ibrahim who played the role Kamal in the film is top notch. Viewers can really feel the emotions portrayed by the actor. The next paragraph will further elaborate.

"Cerita Kita" is a romance film between the two main protagonists, Kamal (Pekin Ibrahim) and Ika (Yana Samsudin). Both of them have been neighbours for three years in an apartment. Kamal works as a car washer and has always been advised by Ika to change his carefree lifestyle. Kamal has been in love with Ika for a long time but he never confessed his feelings until Ika meets a rich man named Malik (Fezrul Khan).

Honestly speaking, the reviewer does not like Yana Samsudin's acting which is exaggerated and too forced. The weakness of the story is the romance between Ika and Malik which does not develop and only started because of external factors such as Ika's beauty and Malik's richness. It is quite unrealistic for a conversation filled with childish jokes between Ika and Malik to suddenly lead to Malik's marriage proposal.

Maybe for the next film, the director could describe each character in detail, especially the main characters. This would prevent them from looking like mere cardboards to the audiences.

Despite such weaknesses, what still made this film interesting is Pekin Ibrahim's acting which captured the audience's heart. Even though not a fan of romance films, the reviewer admits part of the reviewer's heart melted with the character Kamal. Kamal's honesty and 'Average Joe' characteristics can be easily associated with and will surely touch the audience's hearts.

The concept of this film is not something new but some of the audiences will still be entertained with director Pierre Andre's film "Cerita Kita".
