Watch this if you liked: "Kecoh! Hantu Raya Tok Chai" and "Tolong! Awek Aku Pontianak"

Unfortunately, MAR Energetic's first film is not as energetic as its company's name implies, and it is such a disappointment that there were even a select few who left the cinema because they could not stand the self-indulgent storyline and over-the-top sound effects.

In fact, "Tokak" feels like a film that was made 10 years ago and the director admitted as much that his film is made on a cheap budget. However, that cannot be made an excuse as another local film, "KIL", was also made with a small budget but the quality is there.

"KIL" also did not feature a vastly popular cast, but their acting was leagues ahead of the actors in "Tokak", which feels forced. The film also does not seem to have any other motive besides exploiting women (Lana Nordin) by featuring them in disgusting scenes.

The roughshod computer-generated imagery (CGI) displayed brings the film even lower as it conveys the impression that a film student reject was hired since they did not have any money.

Otherwise, praise should be given to the producer who is brave enough to even make this film a reality, although it is a huge failure. On the bright side, failing once does not mean failing forever. There are still a lot to learn and improve upon, and the reviewer hopes that MAR Energetic's next film will be better than this.
