Volkswagen Kuning

Directed by Pekin Ibrahim, the movie is inspired by the famous Malaysian urban legend about a mysterious yellow-coloured Volkswagen seen on Karak highway. According to legend, when you see the car on the highway, do not overtake it as it will keep appearing in front of you, and what`s worse, no driver seems to be driving the car.

The Good, the Bad and the Creepy Myth:

• Based on the popular local myth, the film nicely utilises the element of jump scares to bring the out the best of its horror. Though some scares are quite predictable, especially those who are familiar with the myth, others are pure terror.

• Unlike many cliched local horror films, the film is definitely one with quality in terms of its plot, the acting and the effects.

• The film is filled with suspense and thrills, but instead of using loud banging noises to scare the audience like many horror flicks do, director Shadan Hashim uses a different approach to make audiences freak out.

• Lead by Pekin Ibrahim and Atikah Suhaime, all the cast do well in their respective roles, especially Azman Hassan, who is a great stress-reliever for a really suspenseful film.
