6 Aug – The 22nd edition of the Malaysian Film Festival or Festival Filem Malaysia (FFM) was officiated last night with the awarding of 10 categories and plenty of cultural performances expounding the 1Malaysia theme at the Centre Atrium 1 Borneo, Sabah. The FFM was launched by the Honourable Datuk Masidi Manjun, Minister of Tourism Culture And Environment of Sabah, Mohd Mahyidin Mustakim director-general of National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) together with other Sabahan representatives. Actress Sazzy Falak and Sabahan filmmaker Abu Bakar Elah hosted the event together as it kicked off, with the first award given to Les Copaque's animation film "Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula" for the "Box Office Film" award. The popular animation featuring pre-school TV characters Upin dan Ipin added to its RM 6.2 million total gross by taking home RM 10,000 and a trophy, as did each category winner on the night. Among the celebs present were Ahmad Idham, Hans Isaac, Que Haidar, Linda Jasmine, Liyana Jasmay and Scha Al-Yahya.
