11 Nov – Lotus Five Star (LFS) cinemas had its grand opening of their 21st outlet in IOI Mall, Bandar Putra, Kulai, Johor, as the first cinema in the town which encompasses a 3D hall. The event which was held at 11am yesterday was marked with a loud performance of Lion Dance and a costumed Yogi Bear character appearance. The event also saw the attendance of the members of the media as well as the Lotus team which was led by Director Garuna Murthee for the ribbon cutting ceremony. In conjunction with its launch, "Shark Night 3D" was screened for its attendees as members of the media managed to interview the LFS Cinemas team for their further business ventures. Reportedly, the brand new IOI Mall Cineplex is already looking towards expanding its current 6 halls to 8, if negotiations with the mall management and other related parties go through. Project Manager of LFS Cinemas, Mohd Shah revealed, that they are also looking to expand their chain of Cineplexes with 2 new outlets which are expected to be ready next month. One of the outlets will be located in Segamat, Johor, and another in a yet to be revealed location in Penang.
In addition to that, LFS Cinemas is also looking to expand to five locations next year and they are revealed to be two Cineplexes in the Klang Valley, two in Perak (Kampar and Seri Iskandar) and one major Cineplex in Kuching. The Cineplexes are targeted for a November 2012 opening date. LFS IOI Mall Kulai is joined by other existing LFS Cineplexes in Johor, such as LFS Broadway, LFS Plaza Tasik Skudai, LFS Skudai Parade and LFS Perling Mall. The cineplex which is housed on the first floor of IOI Mall, Kulai, has a seating capacity of 920 seats strewn across 6 cinematic halls including one digital hall and another that features 3D digital projection capabilities.
