We're Alive!

TGV Cinemas CEO Kenny Wong (fourth from left) poses with movie fans at TGV 1Utama braving the night for the 'End Of The World' event.

24 Dec - Despite the prediction by the Mayans and the anticipation by most, 21st December 2012 had arrived and gone and it appears that the world has not come to an end after all. To commemorate this joy and triumph, Cinema Online ticket winners and TGV Cinemas' guests welcomed the "End Of The World" event with screenings of popular disaster movies, namely, "2012" and "The Day After Tomorrow" in 3D at the new TGV 1Utama!

With over 300 movie fans in attendance along with CEO of TGV Cinemas Kenny Wong, this double movie marathon also ushered the day with a special countdown in the middle of the event to mark mankind's survival through the 'end of the world'.
In spreading the love to many on that 'supposedly' last day, there were refreshments that included New Zealand Natural Premium ice cream and popcorn, of course. Not forgetting, those who joined in the fun also received goodie bags, or "Survival Kits" that consisted of a bottle of mineral water, a Kit Kat bar, a notebook and a torch light.

The perks of the world coming to an end: Free ice cream for all!

Survival Kit for the guests

"If the world does come to an end, what do we do? Have a Kit Kat bar! Take a break!"

Present during the event was Zul Fikri Zamir, 27, who also happened to be a movie buff. Below is the comment presented by him with regards to year and and "2012":

"I do not know there is a particular date that marks the end of the world. Though I believe in the world coming to an end, I don't think it would most likely happen today. "2012" is a pretty entertaining film, but has a lot of illogical plot. And yes, even if the world does come to an end one day, I would have been dead by then (laugh)."

Zul Fikri, a film lover who gave his food for thought for the night.

Guess we managed to overcome the Mayan predictions, after all.
