During the festive month of Syawal, no doubt your daily acvities will include endless visits to your relatives', as well as friends', open houses. When you're full to the brim with ketupat and rendang, take the time for a breather (let your food digest) and maybe – why not – pay your local cinema a visit? This is the time when most Malay films are released so let's show our local film industry some love and support by going to the cinema to watch these following 5 films:
If it's horror you're looking for, then "Tembus" is the film for you. This film definitely is something worth looking forward to as this is Indonesian actress Luna Maya's first time acting in a feature film in Malaysia – she portrays a psychopathic woman who can't bear to let her man go. Working side by side with the likes of Aaron Aziz, Nur Fazura, Khir Rahman, Eizlan Yusof and Mia Sara Nasuha, Luna Maya portrays a psychopathic woman who can't bear to let her man go. In "Tembus", we follow the life of a pair of husband and wife whose only daughter has been abducted.
For you soppy romcom lovers, "Mat Tudung" is a must on your To-watch List. This film – with its star-studded cast made up of Fizz Fairuz, Nelydia Senrose, Izzue Islam and Harun Salim Bachik – tells the story of a mat rempit named Johari who fell for a nice, hijab-wearing girl. To win the affection of the nice girl Zizie, Johari even goes as far as disguising himself as a headscarf-wearing lady who goes by the name Johanna. Watch the funny antics of Fizz Fairuz as he sheds his image as actress Almy Nadia's husband and instead portray himself as a highly (un)believable lady in tudung.
Adnan Sempit Sawadikap (7 August)
Fans of the "Adnan Sempit" film series would be happy to know it is back with its latest sequel, "Adnan Sempit Sawadikap"! The sequel will be playing in the cinema this 7 August. What sets this film apart from the others in the series is the fact that 95 per cent of the film was shot in neighbouring country, Thailand. Joining the original line up – Shaheizy Sam, Intan Ladyana, Along Cham and Yana Samsudin – this time around is Thai actress Lalisa Sontirod. This last sequel, produced by Metrowealth, tells the story how Adnan lost his child and he thinks that the gangster called Nok has something to do with the child's disappearance.
With the theme of horror comedy, this film is bound to make you crack up with laughter while watching the onscreen antics of Fad, Acey, Abam, Epy Raja Lawak and Yassin.
