With Hari Raya Aidilfitri just around the corner, everyone is busy preparing for it and has no time to catch a movie or two.

After a whole day of fasting, Ramadhan bazaars are more the hot spots rather than movie theatres. Also, everyone will be busy cooking sumptuous delicacies to open fast with and afterwards, going to the mosques for prayers.

However, come Raya day, everyone flocks the cinemas to see the season's latest offerings. So in the spirit of Raya movie-watching, we list down several movies that can be enjoyed by everyone with friends and loved ones this Raya.

Suamiku Jatuh Dari Langit

Start your Raya celebration with a romantic comedy starring Nora Danish and Qi Razali. Nora plays a "kampung girl" named Asyikin, who is the daughter of the strict village chief. Qi plays Awie, one half of the village's troublesome duo. One day, while trying to sneak into the village chief's house to steal money, he accidentally falls off the roof, landing right in front of Asyikin. Thus begin their romantic and comedy-filled love story.

The Gallows

Looking for something to make you scream? Worry not, there are several horror movies playing this Raya and one of them is none other than "The Gallows". When a group of students attempt to re-stage a failed stage show from 20 years ago, in a misguided attempt to honour the anniversary of the tragedy, they find out the hard way that some things are just not meant to be disturbed. Catch it in the cinemas to find out why!

CCTV

If you're more into local horror movies, "CCTV" will be something right up your alley. This Daven R-directed movie, starring Aeril Zafrel, Ardell Aryana and Hasnul Rahmat, tells the story of a man named Hariri, who one day is called up by his supervisor to fix a CCTV camera at an old hospital. As he's fixing it, he falls and not only injures himself, but also ends up unconscious. When he finally comes to, he realises he has been admitted into the old hospital. Soon, he starts experiencing strange and creepy events.

Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation

"Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation" is the perfect movie for action junkies, and fans of the franchise, of course. Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, who, in this latest movie, gets involved in yet another impossible mission. The skilled agent and his team have to stop The Syndicate, a highly-trained organisation of rogue assassins that kill on order, from destroying the IMF.

Detective Conan: Sunflowers Of Inferno

Parents of young kids, fret not, there is a perfect animated movie you can watch with your little ones and even teens this Raya. "Detective Conan: Sunflowers Of Inferno" follows Kaitou Kid, a seventeen-year-old who uses his skills to steal a Van Gogh painting called "Sunflowers". Jirokichi Suzuki, the buyer of the painting, hires the Seven Samurais to guard it. Sinichi Kudo, a well-known and brilliant young detective, appears on the scene after hearing about Kaitou`s declaration to steal the painting.

Southpaw

For boxing fans, "Southpaw" will drag you into the ring, so to speak. It tells the story of Billy Hope, a boxer who lives a comfortable life with his family. However, his wife, Maureen, is not supportive of his career. She wants him to quit boxing so he can spend more time with their daughter, Leila. Billy agrees and announces his retirement. But when Maureen is accidentally killed in a brawl with another boxer, Billy's life crumbles as he loses custody of Leila because of his aggressive nature. He then decides to go back to boxing in order to reunite with his daughter.

Release Date: 6 August

Fantastic Four

The superhero movie makes its way to the big screen once again. The "Fantastic Four" reboot follows four young outsiders who find themselves with super powers after teleporting to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. They must now learn to embrace their newfound powers in order to save the Earth from a familiar enemy.
