The Good, the Bad and the Hangman:

• The main characters are neither likeable nor relatable, with Ryan's obnoxious behaviour being the most off-putting.

• The jokes were less funny and more annoying, with Ryan constantly belittling the "drama nerds" (they're not cool like his jock buddies) and "girls" (they're not guys), including his own girlfriend and especially the Drama club girls he finds ugly. These are the types of jokes one would expect to have phased out in a modern movie.

• There was no real scare in the movie, it just overutilises jump scares with its usage of sudden loud sounds. Though to be fair, audience in Malaysia is seeing a watered-down version of the movie as it has suffered through cuts before being approved for screening.

• Found footage format really should be retired. It was interesting as it was against the norm when "The Blair Witch Project" popularised it back in 1999. But that only worked because the shots used could pass off as "found footage" while the filming in later movies, such as this, that attempt to emulate it looks deliberate and therefore erases the supposed authenticity the filmmakers were aiming for.

Trivia:

• All the main characters use their real first name in the movie (Ryan, Reese, Cassidy and Pfeiffer).
