Rodzee to make nation proud

Rodzee A. Razak.

With the pre-launch of the film "Patriot", Rodzee A. Razak shares his thoughts on why he wants to make the film and discusses the Sabah tragedy at FINAS, Kuala Lumpur.

Cinema Online's interview with Rodzee A. Razak was conducted on 23 April 2013 at FINAS, Kuala Lumpur.

Hello, could you talk to us about your upcoming movie, "Patriot"?
Hello, and sure!

What made you to want to make this film?
To make "Patriot" was to make something that Malaysia would be proud of. I want to make the country feel proud of something that is us.

How is working with Captain Sudirman so far?
I liked that I get to work with Captain Sudirman himself. He has great experience from actual defence troops and he's a real soldier. He wrote the script and he knows the story better than I do.

What do you think the film will bring to our country?
I hope to make a film that will make our country fall in love with itself again. I also want to make a film with substance and I want to show, not only to Malaysia but to the entire world, that we love our country.

The cast and crew of "Patriot".

What is the film about?
"Patriot" is about the journey that our defence troops go through to save us from acts of terrorism just like the recent events in Sabah.

This film is still very closely linked to the story of the Sabah tragedies, what are your thoughts on this?
Sabah had been invaded and terrorised. Even if the story does touch on the same subject, the idea of "Patriot" was actually written by Captain Sudirman about a year before it happened! So I don't know how the terrorists in Sabah got our script first.

Wow! What a weird coincidence!
It's funny that the film is almost exactly the same as what happened. I don't know what connections Captain Sudirman had with the terrorists either.

Thank you so much for talking with us!
You're welcome!
