26 Mar – Malaysian director Ahmad Idham, famed for his long array of Malaysian films as both actor ("Damping Malam") and director ("Niyang Rapik") revealed in an interview recently that it has always been his dream to direct a historical film about Datuk Bahaman, a legendary Malay warrior. "It's every director's dream to make an epic period movie. In future, I would like to explore filmmaking that focuses on the legendary Malay warrior from Pahang and Malay martial arts, namely silat as well. It would be great if I could make a movie that truly shows the true strength of ancient Malay warriors (pendekar)," shared Ahmad Idham during the candid conversation. Inspired by "Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa" director Yusry Abdul Halim's recent success at the box office, the "Jangan Pandang Belakang" director is driven to work on his own potential epic film. Only if the right funding is available, of course. Ahmad Idham is also looking forward to the release of his upcoming horror romance "Senjakala" starring rising young Malaysian actor Zahiril Adzim and actress Liyana Jasmay as a couple experiencing supernatural-related relationship when it begins showing at the cinemas in Malaysia on 14 April. However, a tentative release date for Singapore is yet to be confirmed.
