19 Oct – Malaysian film director Adrian Teh's sister, Angelin Teh, was reported to have died in a plane crash from the Laotian capital Vientiane to Pakse on Wednesday. She was 24. Her husband Joel Babcock also died in the crash. The cause of the crash was said to have been the bad weather, which led their plane, Flight QV301, to spiral out of control and land in the Mekong River about 8km from Pakse Airport in Champasek province. Angelin is the only Malaysian confirmed killed in the plane crash. Her husband is a US citizen. Her family is devastated upon hearing the news and is on the way to Laos to identify their remains and bring them home. Although a video from Laos shows that Teh's passport was among several items that have been recovered from the crash areas, her remains have not yet been found. According to a woman said to be Angelin's aunt, she was in Laos to accompany Joel, who had been teaching at an international school in Laos for the past three years. The two often returned to Penang during Chinese New Year. So far, the authorities in Laos have only recovered 27 bodies out of the 49 passengers and crew on the manifest. Most have not been identified.
