3 Feb – Just weeks after director Mark Romanek quit the project, Disney has already found their director for their live-action "Cinderella" movie. It is reported that they are negotiating with director Kenneth Branagh with hopes to start production this fall. Kenneth Branagh has not only made a name for himself as an actor with memorable roles like Gilderoy Lockhart in the second "Harry Potter" film and in "Hamlet", but he is also known as a blockbuster director with movies like "Thor" and the upcoming "Jack Ryan" in his belt. Also said to be joining the film is Cate Blanchett, who is eyeing for the role of the wicked stepmother.
As for the role of Cinderella herself, no name has been confirmed yet. It is rumoured that "Hanna" actress Saoirse Ronan and Swedish actress Alicia Vikander are some of the few choices for the part, but now with Branagh directing, things may take a different turn.
