13 Apr – Four years after making "Public Enemies", Michael Mann is finally back working on a new thriller that already has "Thor" actor, Chris Hemsworth, on board. The Asian media has reported recently that the director has been in Hong Kong, scouting out shooting locations as well as local talents for his upcoming movie. Nick Cheung (Conspirators), Tang Wei (Lust, Caution) and Shawn Yue (Infernal Affairs) were among big local names spotted meeting up with Mann at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. The unnamed film will be set in a world of cyber threats and attacks. The script is said to involve a Balkan hacker operating out of a South Asian country with an American and Chinese task force in pursuit.
Mann is looking to cast a pair of Chinese siblings who will share major screen time with Hemsworth. Besides the three stars, other actors who were present for the audition included British-Chinese model Janine Tai, Carl Ng and Michael Tong. It' has also been reported that Tang Wei stands a good chance in clinching whatever role the director has planned as he was very impressed with her English speaking skills. Meanwhile, multiple award-winning Nick Cheung can be most recently seen in "Conspirators" alongside Aaron Kwok, which is currently playing in cinemas nationwide.
