4 Jun – After the film's huge opening last week, the box office numbers for "Fast And Furious 6" saw a steep drop this week (30 May to 2 June), although they were still sufficient to maintain the lead over newcomers like "Now You See Me", as well as "After Earth" for the United States. In Malaysia, the top three in the box office are "Fast And Furious 6", "Epic" and "Now You See Me". The magician caper is directed by Louis Leterrier, and stars Jesse Eisenberg as J. Daniel Atlas, who leads a team of magicians who pull off bank heists during their performances and reward their audiences with the money. Mark Ruffalo stars as Dylan Rhodes, an FBI agent who is hot on their heels. Thanks to the film's fun, original premise and broadly appealing cast that includes Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine, the film managed to beat the 3-D re-release of "Jurassic Park" and "The Hangover Part III". In Singapore, "The Hangover Part III" is better received than in Malaysia or the US, as it opened in second place after "Fast And Furious 6" in first, followed by "Epic". This may be due to the fact that "Now You See Me" only opens on 6 June, which is a week later than the aforementioned locations.
In the US, after "Fast And Furious 6" at first place with USD 171 million, are "Now You See Me" and "After Earth", in second and third places, respectively. It was speculated that the disappointing box office numbers for "After Earth" are due to the film's bland premise, bad direction and its stars' stoic performances. Other new films released last week in Malaysia are "Jurassic Park" in 3D, "Bro, Nampak Motor Gua?", "Kutti Puli", "The Hangover Part III", "KIL" and "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani". Other new films released last week in Singapore are "Great Expectations", "Jurassic Park" in 3D, "The Hangover Part III", "Epic", "Dead Man Down", "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" and "Hi-5 Some Kind Of Wonderful".
