24 Mar – The Canadian actor, who has gained massive attention and interest when he took on the role of Jack Bauer on TV series "24", is in final negotiations to star as the villain in the 3D Roman disaster film, "Pompeii". "Pompeii", directed by Paul W.S. Anderson of "Resident Evil" fame, is set in 79 A.D. in the days before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, one of history's great disasters. This new and upcoming big budget film will also star "Games Of Thrones" star Kit Harrington and Emily Browning from "Sucker Punch" as siblings. Jared Harris will play Harrington's master.
Sutherland will play a Roman senator who enslaved Harington's village. The scheming senator then forces the merchant to give his daughter's hand in marriage to him. Previously, Sutherland appeared in Lars von Trier's "Melancholia" and recently starred in the indie thriller "The Reluctant Fundamentalist". "Pompeii" began shooting in Toronto, Canada last week and will be expected to be released in theatres next year.
