14 Jun – The famous 90s trading card game, "Magic: The Gathering" is coming to life with fantasy writer from "Games of Thrones", Bryan Cogman in charge of the screenplay. Hired by 20th Century Fox, Cogman will write the screenplay for the film adaptation for which the studio acquired the rights for back in January. Game developer Hasbro along with the writer-producer of the "X-Men" film franchise, Simon Kinberg is set to produce.
"Magic: The Gathering" is a fantasy role-playing trading card game that was first introduced in 1993. The game is set in a magical realm inhabited by wizards, best known as 'planeswalkers'. The planeswalkers battle with each other using five different colours of magic to employ spells, artifacts, and creatures depicted on individual Magic cards to defeat their opponents Currently, there is no release date or director set for the film.
