Hollywood remakes "Delete My Love"

Wong Cho Lam's comedy "Delete My Love" goes to Hollywood.

2 May – It was revealed that American film company, Nu Image has acquired the right to remake Wong Cho Lam's comedy movie, "Delete My Love" and will begin production soon.

According to Oriental Daily, the company which is famous for producing "The Expendables" franchise, attended Hong Kong FILMART when it was held back in March and was deeply interested in the movie after watching a secret screening held at the event.

After months of negotiations, Nu Image finally came to an agreement with China 3D boss, Stephen Shiu Jr. to remake the movie for Hollywood.

Ben Stiller might play Wong Cho Lam's role while Jack Nicholson for Michael Hui's role.

Rumoured to start production next year, it was alleged that the film company is in talks to get comedy star Ben Stiller for Wong Cho Lam's character and Jack Nicholson for Michael Hui's role.

When asked about the deal, Stephen Shiu Jr. stated, "I can't tell you how much they paid for the rights of the movie. But we have no objection over the casting of Ben Stiller and Jack Nicholson if it's true."

Stephen stated that during the negotiation, they only focused on the change of script, the director that will be helming it, and the budget for the Hollywood remake.

Meanwhile, Wong Cho Lam stated that he will be honoured if Ben Stiller says yes to playing his character.

Directed by Patrick Kong and starring Wong Cho Lam, Ivana Wong, and Michael Hui, "Delete My Love" tells the story of how an Average Joe, So Boh Wing, who receives a mysterious text message that promises him the ability to "delete" the people he dislikes should he choose to forward the chain message to another friend, finds himself deleting everybody in his life and replacing it with what he deemed 'better people', only to realise that he is unhappy with his new life.
