Mike Epps to star in Pryor's biopic

Mike Epps will play as Richard Pryor in upcoming biopic.

30 Aug – Oscar-nominated director Lee Daniels announced on his Twitter that he has found the leading man for his Richard Pryor biopic, and the man is none other than "The Hangover" actor Mike Epps.

Other stars who had been considered for the role include Marlon Wayans, Nick Cannon and Michael B. Jordan but in the end Daniels went with Epps.

It probably comes as no surprise as Epps has played Pryor before in another biopic, which is of Nina Simone, that is yet to be released. Also, he was previously chosen by Pryor himself to play his role in a film he would have produced with his wife.

Richard Pryor was a highly regarded comedian, well known for his routines that were for mature audience only, and is greatly considered as one of America's most influential comedians. He suffered from multiple sclerosis for many years until his death in December 2005.

Oprah Winfrey, other than producing, will also star in the biopic as Pryor's grandmother.
