"Terminator: Genisys" gets two sequels

"Terminator: Genysis" gets two sequels even before its release.

8 Sep – "Terminator: Genisys" has not hit the cinemas yet but Paramount Pictures has already confirmed two sequels for it slotted for the year 2017 and 2018.

Currently untitled, the two sequels go by the titles "Terminator 2" and "Terminator 3" at the moment. The original "Terminator" movie was released 30 years ago in 1984, with James Cameron helming the project and Arnold Schwarzenegger starring as the iconic cyborg, who famously uttered the phrase "I'll be back".

James Cameron wrapped up the franchise with "Terminator 2: Judgement Day". Or so fans thought, that was until the emergence of two more sequels "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" and "Terminator Salvation", minus the involvement of the "Avatar" director.

This time around the reboot will be directed by Alan Taylor, of "Thor: The Dark World" fame. Schwarzenegger will of course be reprising his iconic role alongside Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Byung-hun Lee, J. K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi and Matt Smith.

"Terminator 2" is set for release on 19 May 2017 and "Terminator 3" on 29 June 2018. "Terminator: Genisys" will open worldwide on 2 July 2015.
