Will Ferrell confirms "Zoolander 2"

Ben Stiller is returning to the sequel of the 2001 comedy film "Zoolander".

20 Sep – Almost 15 years since the first "Zoolander" film, and now Will Ferrell has confirmed that the sequel is definitely happening with him returning to reprise his role as Jacobim Mugatu in "Zoolander 2".

Ferrell confirmed the news with Jo Blo, saying that a script read of the sequel is happening in the near future, "We are actually supposed to do a read-through of a sequel script soon, and Mugatu is a part of it."

Rumours of the sequel has been going on for years, just recently in an interview with Cinema Online during the promotions for "The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty" in Sydney, Ben Stiller did confirm that he intends to make a sequel for "Zoolander" considering that the film received generally positive views from critics but is just awaiting the studio to greenlight the project.

Will Ferrell played villain Mugatu in "Zoolander".

In 2010, Stiller also tweeted about the movie comeback and confirmed that he is writing the script for the sequel, "We're in the process of getting a script written, so it's in the early stages. But yeah, it's going to happen."

2001's "Zoolander" was about a clueless male model named Derek Zoolander who has been brainwashed to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The movie was banned in Malaysia.

Stiller revealed the plot of the sequel to Empire Online:-

"It's ten years later and most of it is set in Europe... it's basically Derek and Hansel... though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they're not really relevant anymore. It's a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he's expressed interest in doing it. I think Mugatu is an integral part of the Zoolander story, so yes, he features in a big way."
